Process
Universal Foundation Company employs various methods for installing piles for bridge construction and repair. When operating from a barge, the process begins by installing a temporary casing, which is vibrated into the waterbed to achieve stability. A sizable drill rig then excavates the pile to the required depth. This approach minimizes environmental impact.
Alternatively, a Reverse Circulation Drilling (RCD) rig can be utilized atop the casing to drill the pile. A powerful pump removes excavated soil using drilling fluid, with a de-sander plant separating soil from the fluid for recycling. This method enables the execution of large diameter piles in diverse ground conditions.
In cases where environmental concerns are minimal, Universal Foundation Company may opt to construct a temporary bund or embankment in the water, forming a cofferdam. This enclosed area can then be pumped out, facilitating construction within the enclosed space.
