Lime Pile

The Universal Foundation Company has developed a groundbreaking method to enhance soft clay layers, employing partially replaced lime piles with or without confinement. This innovative approach aims to boost bearing capacity and mitigate settlement. Additionally, it investigates variations in subgrade modulus and failure mechanisms of shallow circular footings on replaced soil, with or without skirts. The findings demonstrate a significant increase in load-bearing capacity, particularly with the utilization of partially replaced sand piles, both with and without confinement. This technique effectively alters stress-displacement curves of footings on soft clay, reducing settlement notably. The replaced soil within skirts acts akin to deep foundations, modifying the bearing capacity failure mechanism from exclusive settlement to a general failure at the confined replaced sand column's tip.
